BWG
I am a blessed woman. I have a husband who loves me ridiculously a lot, two beautiful, intelligent, hilarious children that I enjoy a close relationship with, and a job that I am absolutely passionate about. I also have a plethora of family and friends and activities that often cause me to burst into a BWG. What's a BWG my non-texting friends (I have non-texting friends??) might ask? Why it stands for Big Wide Grin. Which I do. Often. :D See??
Last night I tried hot yoga for the first time. OMG. (Oh My Goodness) ;) I was so excited during the whole class I could barely sit still. But thank goodness that was the whole point! We were practicing Power Vinyasa. You should've seen the precious girl behind the desk when we walked in and I told her this was my first yoga class, let alone hot yoga, let alone POWER VINYASA. Not wanting to discourage me, she sweetly swallowed and said "Well. This is one of our more strenuous classes, there is cardio, strength, and toning involved. And heat. So, if you get light-headed, it is totally okay to just lie flat on your mat until you feel better! It's much cooler down on the floor." Now she was speaking my language! Even with all the disclaimers, I still couldn't wipe the silly BWG off my face. I was DOING this!
If you haven't tried hot yoga, I strongly urge you to take the leap. Here I was, surrounded by AMAZING people who were just there to get their yoga on. They were each there to better themselves, to push beyond where they had been before, to IMPROVE. My kinda people! And there were boundaries...which I love. We each had our own mats with towels on them. My mat is blue. When I look at it I see those cute little birds that followed Cinderella around all the time.
So, during our session I stayed on my rectangle-of-trust and grinned my little heart out. At one point while we were holding the tree pose...okay...my little piece of forest had a bit of a swaying wind going on...the instructor told us to look to the front of the room and find our face in the mirror and told us all sorts of wonderful things to say to said face. The room was darkened during the class, but I was able to clearly see my face way up in the front of the room...the face with all 32 teeth on full display. Yup...I had found my happy.
Now we all have days that just take the wind right out of us. I think self-care and forgiveness is the order of those kind of times. But following the 80/20 principle, if you can find YOUR happy 80% of the time, and spread that happy to the people surrounding you think how many more BWG there would be out there?
I would really love to stay and chat about this some more, but I have another yoga class in a couple hours...and I must start hydrating! :D
Go. Find your happy. And...
...Make it a great day!!
