Be THAT guy
"It's YOU!!" I chortled as I hauled across the grass. The startled object of my attention looked straight at, then around me as she frantically searched her mind for any bit of recognition of this person bearing down on her. The poor thing.
I will back up. (Like I'm sure she would've liked me to...)
I was with friends headed into the festivities at the Lighthouse festival this weekend along our waterfront. We had just walked through the gates when what to my wondering eyes should appear, but my favorite ever SeaGal!! Jessica l! I follow her on Twitter, actually she is the only one I follow. The reason I follow her is because she has a presence and a smile that just lights you up inside. Like last night. This woman had never seen me before. And yes, she was representing her team, the world champion Seahawks, remember them beating out the Broncos for this years Superbowl title??? (I know. I'm shameless). And I'm sure she had been inundated all afternoon by adoring fans.
But when she realized that I was just a bubbling, babbling harmless person who was genuinely delighted to see her there, she gamely opened her arms and gave me a big hug. We chatted for a minute and I was able to tell her how much I appreciated her energy and how she conducts herself. I mean this woman is beautiful. But she doesn't make her fans pay for that. She really seems to be there for them, and to draw attention to her establishment. I like that. I suspected that all along by reading her tweets, but after meeting her in person and finding her so approachable, I am sure of it.
Do you have people in your life who just boost your energy and happy level up a notch every time you see them? They can be having the worst day ever, but somehow they always manage to lift up those around them. Man do I want to be that kind of person!!
I challenge you today to two things. Tap your inner happy and make a point of brightening the immediate area around you. And the second thing is to go up to those people that cheer you on and tell them how much you appreciate them. Everyone needs their love cup filled daily!
Go enjoy one of the last really warm days of summer. Soon we will be snuggling into woolly sweaters and clutching steaming cups of cider...doesn't sound half bad!
