Plug in to the POWER
Man it's been a full past few weeks! I want to get off the merry-go-round. At times it hasn't been that "merry" either. Ever have those weeks that you fantasize about quietly packing a bag and tent, loading up the car, leaving a note for your loved ones, and just driving til you feel like stopping? No?? Me neither. ;)
So how does one keep the sunny-side-up when things aren't sunny...at all. I don't know. I wish I could just rattle off a solution and apply it every time something blows me sideways. It's part of being authentic to admit to having days where little or no cylinders are firing.
I do have a few go-to's that mitigate these days a bit. Number one is to spend a bit of extra time during the day on my knees asking for strength and brain power. I don't always feel infused with "Awww YES! That's the ticket!!", but I know that if I can take a minute to leave my issues at His feet, I will feel better in the long run, and chances are the short run too.
1 Peter 5:7 says to "Give all your worries and cares to God for he cares about you." As a praise team, we used to sing that song in church and it was a powerful one. It goes on to say "I lay all of my burdens, down at your feet. And anytime, I don't know, what to do, I will cast all my cares upon you."
I think God must get a kick out of his kids coming to him with their woes. Can you imagine what our little measly problems look like to the King of the Universe? Seriously!! But it's the act of His child, hunkering down at His feet, asking for guidance, coming to the place of safety and wisdom that must just light His heart on fire.
There are days that I can clearly see myself, face planted at the feet of my powerful God, totally spent. In my minds eye, I picture him bending down and taking me by the arms and folding me into an embrace. After long moments like this, I imagine him holding me at arms length and searching for my eyes with his own. "Go," he says. "Go deal with the stuff you have to deal with. I've paved the way and am with you every step. You are my beloved daughter in whom I am well pleased. You tapped into MY power. We will do this TOGETHER!"
I have other things that help me through tough days. I will save those for another post...I just remembered there is something really important that I gotta do. :)
Make it a great day!!
